ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!

Sparkle Pants is now TWO!!!  His mom and dad managed to get him through another year.  Yesterday they gave each other a pat on the back for that.  Truly, my daughter is in school full time, raising a two year old with out EVER yelling or losing it AND he is both well-mannered AND sweet spirited.  See Friends, it all turns out ok.  How many times have I TOLD YOU that???...hmmm, I mean, how many times do I need to tell myself that????

Sparkle Pants scored a new skateboard helmet from us...and about a zillion balloons, which kept him busy for hours and pooped him out BIG TIME.
Who says a pony, a jumpy, a clown AND a petting zoo is necessary for a two year old?  Just buy him/her a few balloons and you're set!

Safety FIrst!!!

SP and Lifeguard(dad)

On the running front, 10k training is SPARKLING.  I'm having fun doing less mileage and more speed work/hill work.  At track this week,  I was able to hold mile repeats at 6:25, so I think my fitness is definitely improving.  Today's tempo run will be interesting...
It's definitely nice having more family time on the weekends and NOT feeling like a  broken doll from all of that mileage BUT...I do miss not having a marathon goal right now.

I miss it SO much that we're heading down to the RnR Marathon in San Diego to cheer on the troops!!!  THERE ARE WAY too many friends to mention on the blog because just about everyone is running from around here BUT I can't wait to see Bethany and Ryan running on their honeymoon!!!  We have a surprise for them!!!  Can't wait to head down there tomorrow with the cowbell!

GOOD LUCK to Amanda on her marathon and have fun, girl!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

  2. What a great post! Have fun with your new training and enjoy cheering on the troops at the R n R! I have to admit that while I miss having the "training plan" right in front of me, it is nice to just choose right now what I want to run and to not feel worn down on the weekend. But, I give myself another month and I may have to give in.

  5. LOL that Chris K felt compelled to give you the "low down" on his current "health"

Glad that you're enjoying the training. I'm telling ya, 1/2 marathons are the way to go!

On the other hand, I'm starting to think I may have one more marathon in me :-)

  8. Have fun at tomorrow's marathon. It really is the next best thing to running it yourself - especially if you've got friends in it. You're going to lift their spirits and make their day.

  14. SP is the cutest little boy and aren't you the best grandma (and mom) to realise this and what a great job your daughter is doing? I am really impressed with all of you. Keep up the 10K training - it will help you when you get back to marathoning I'm sure!

  23. Hey girl! Loved the video. My little guy turns two soon too. :) He thinks he is so cool when he wears his sister's pink helmet. Sooo funny. :) Great job on the 6:25 repeats! I am excited for 10 training. I have a feeling that I will really love that race when I start training for it specifically. I might try a triathlon this summer too.

  25. I still love balloons. We once sent my 3 yr. old nephew a gift for his birthday. My brother called to say his son received it. I asked, "Did he like our gift?" "I think so," replied my brother. "But he really loved the giant cardboard shipping carton." Apparently he played in the box all week!

Glad you like your new lighter running schedule and your free weekends! I just blogged about my very first track workout ever. I never ran on one before, not even back in high school. Now I know what "speedwork" means! Wish I was as speedy as you :-) Keep it up!
