So many secrets to share today on this Good Friday!
Number 1: I went running with a friend today. It was one of those FABULOUS runs when you talk and talk and then BAM! 6 miles, over.
She was sharing about her teenagers. I could relate. Sometimes it still feels like we have teenagers around. The one secret I shared with Super Girl was this...if you don't have anything kind, helpful nor inspiring to say then DON'T SPEAK.
Teens are sensitive. Teens more often than not need a hug, not advice. Sometimes they just need you to listen...

I have had years to learn this and it still rings true...bite your tongue. Once something leaves your mouth, you can NEVER take it back.
I guess this isn't really a secret, just something I was thinking today while running with Super Girl...
Number 2: Nuun has won me back!
During my ultra running days a few years ago, I started trying NUUN out on my long runs. It wasn't that thrilling to me back then, the bubbles were ticklish and I couldn't get used to the flavor.
Thankfully, MORGAN(one of the Phat Kids)sent me some samples and I gave NUUN a second chance. SOOOO happy I did! So far, I've tried all the flavors a tleast once and lemon lime is my favorite.
Definitely try out NUUN, it saved me during my HOT track workout this week...
THANKS NUUN, thank you MORGAN!
Number 3:
BS and I have a secret weapon...
You can buy it online.
If you run and feel sore, need to visit a massage therapist often and get tired of foam rolling...
check out
COMPEX.
No, they didn't send me anything to try out. I'm not making anything off of this SHOUT OUT, I just need to tell you that I'm running uninjured. happily and stronger because my recoveries are powered by
COMPEX. Every night. It's paid for itself.
WE LOVE YOU COMPEX!
**google it, and you'll be happy too**
It's the little things that keep us going, the things that make life a little easier...talking with a friend, drinking something good for you during a run and later, helping your body recover from a hard workout.
I'm grateful!
Have a wonderful Easter!

Nuun is very hit or miss for me. There are some flavors I really like, and some that really don't work for me. Also, depending on the day, sometimes the bubbles just don't work for me. Haven't tried it in a while - maybe I need to give it another go as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the COMPEX contraption, but the price is no joke. Looks like something my PT has used on me a couple times.
The bubbles in Nuun really upset my stomach. I have a tube that I still keep trying but no luck so far. Glad you've found something that you're happy with. And I had to smile at the Compex and that you're still using it. Worth it's weight in gold for you guys!
ReplyDeleteHave a very happy Easter, my sweet friend!
Happy Easter Meg!
ReplyDeleteI tried Nuun once in the heat and had a shitball race. Probably not the Nuun's fault but you know how that goes. Is Compex a tens unit? I should've gotten one years ago. My sports chiro has one and its fab.
I hear what you're saying about teenagers. In fact one of my non-teenagers still needs all that 'thinking before I say something' - he takes things to heart very easily and will misconstrue things if you're not clear.
ReplyDeletehappy easter and you speak words of wisdom on teenagers!!!
ReplyDeleteSo it looks like an electro stim machine? That seems pretty hardcore to have purchase for yourself! Glad it is helping you feel good though. :) I remember having similar treatment done in college for rowing.
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried nuun yet myself. But have only heard good things about it!
Hope you and your fam had a good Easter!
What a fabulous Good Friday Post! I know I haven't been around of late, but I am back. Ant is doing great! lol. Thanks for posting the THINK thing about speaking. I have not ever tried out this nuun or even ever heard of it before. Yes, it is the little things that keep us going.
ReplyDeleteVery good post my friend! I must think more often!
ReplyDeleteI love THINK - I will memorize it and put it into practice! Since you are using Nuun again, does it mean you are becoming an ultra runner again??? :-)
ReplyDeleteI must learn to think more before speaking, thanks to remind.
ReplyDeleteYes Compex looks like a very good "friend".
I'm not sure we can buy Nuun here. I use powerbar gels which work for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat happy post Meg. Hope you had a good Eastern.
And I love Revenge too. It's here on a pay movie channel and I don't know anyone else here who watches it either. I look forward every week to see what Emily is up to now :)
Nice post Meg! Good advice to remember. Nuun is not available in South Africa...not where I live anyway. I checked out Compex and it certainly looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice for dealing with teenagers. I will try to keep it in mind as I talk to my two teens. I also love Nuun. It's perfect for shorter workouts when water just seems so blah but I don't need any calories. I've never heard of Compex. I'll have to check it out!
